New interview with John Gustafson about unums 2.0 (universal numbers.) This time, John advocates a total break with traditional floating point numbers and proposes a radically different format. The format needs very few bits and always knows how accurate a result is. Could be great for deep learning and exascale. You can even define your own custom number systems (such as a number system based on pi or e).
